Prayagraj Agriculture Deputy Director Satya Prakash Srivastava said more than 6 lakh farmers are registered in Prayagraj district.
17th installment of Kisan Samman Nidhi was sent to 5.49 lakh farmers of the district in second week of June. ₹ 109140 crore has been sent directly to their accounts in form of Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Deputy Director (Agriculture) SP Srivastava says that total 17 installments of Kisan Samman Nidhi have been given to farmers of the district so far. He said that now efforts are being made to include those farmers who have been left out due to some reasons. Another good news for Kisan Samman Nidhi beneficiaries is that now they can also take money through post office. Interested farmers will get this amount through DBT.
Farmers Can Withdraw PM Kisan Kist Through Post Office
Postmaster General of Varanasi and Prayagraj region KK Yadav said that for this, farmers will not have to go to any bank or ATM. They can withdraw money from any bank in the country through mobile and Aadhaar enabled payment system from their account linked to Aadhaar. He said that Department of Posts will not charge any fee for this.
Benefits of PM Kisan Post Office Scheme
According to the officials the number of marginal and small farmers is maximum in the country. Due to low income these financially weak farmers face many financial problems in farming. Farmers were forced to take loans from money lenders and got trapped in debt. Seeing these problems the Government of India launched Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on 2nd February 2019.
PM Kisan Scheme
PM Narendra Modi, during his visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi on 18th June 2024 for the first time after taking oath for the third term, released the 17th installment of PM- Kisan Samman Nidhi, worth more than ₹ 20,000 crore for 92.6 million farmers across the country. PM Kisan is a central scheme under which all registered small landholding farmers get an income support of ₹ 6,000 per year or ₹ 2,000 in three installments.
Agriculture department officials say that till a few years ago farmers were giving up farming due to increasing cost of farming. But the situation changed after PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. They say that the financial assistance given under the scheme has made farmers inclined towards farming.
